Just uploaded: new Training Notes, Planning the next step, offers practical advice on succession planning in a range of applications. These include when volunteers resign, when staff members move on and when a major church event comes to an end.

There are ten pieces of advice ranging from getting planning onto the church's agenda to maintaining updated handover papers at all times, ready for when needed.
But the notes also point out a number of dangers: assuming like should replace like, what happens when the person moving on actually stays around, and so on.
