NEW: Church workers in teams
Many churches are struggling to recruit volunteers in a post-Covid world. But this may well be because they are going the wrong way about it: asking for people to come on to rotas.
These notes present a better way: setting up teams each with a Team Leader who personally invites suitable people to join their team. The emphasis is on working together to achieve an outcome, rather than having to be on duty at various times.
The notes present a number of FAQs as to how such a system works and then list the kind of teams that might be set up, including, for Sunday services:
- Music Team
- Preachers Team
- Intercessions Team
- Tech/Infrastructure Team.
And for other ministries the list includes:

NEW: A checklist for a business plan
These notes are written for churches setting up a business activity (such as running a playgroup or letting out rooms) or anyone setting up a mission agency which requires financial support.
It offers a list of 26 items, set out in five categories, for what might be included in a business or strategic plan. The categories are
- The basics
- Services
- Support
- Finance
- Marketing
The points in the Marketing section, to give one example, are:
- Your website
- Marketing budget
- Outsourcing
- Legal issues
- Names who support you.

Breaking the 200 barrier!
These two new sets of Training Notes bring the total number of resources on the site to over 200. Each one is kept up-to-date with a regular review and edit – one of the advantages of web publishing.
The aim with each is to offer a creative approach to an issue of church or mission agency operations. New topics are chosen to ensure a reasonable balance between the six categories of:
- Leadership

- Structures
- Planning
- Communication
- Administration.
